Swiss Premiere Feature film
Columbia University in 1944: The young Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe, “Harry Potter”) experiences this university where intellect, art and freedom rule as a cultural Mecca. Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan) has captured Ginsberg’s attention. Between the two, sexual tension develops, showing up in a self-indulgent lifestyle and ground-breaking poetry. Carr’s mentor (Michael C. Hall, “Dexter”) disapproves of the liaison between Ginsberg and Carr. Their light-heartedness is short-lived after Carr kills his jealous mentor. This is when the ground stone for the legendary beat generation of great American poets was laid down. John Krokidas’ film about the beginning of Allen Ginsberg’s career as a poet has already fascinated the audiences at the festivals in Venice, Toronto and at Sundance.
